Welcome to Acclaim Magazine’s Heat of the Week. Here are our picks for the best new local and international releases — Follow our playlist here for weekly updates of the best new music!

01. Lil Uzi Vert - CS

It’s hard to write about ‘CS’ because the chaos it induces is prone to leave any pundit speechless. This track is essentially a cover of System Of A Down’s 2001 nu-metal anthem ‘Chop Suey!’, with an instrumental almost identical to the original, and woozy croons taking the place of Serj Tankian’s oddball yelps. Honestly, need I say more? It’s a representation of the pandemonium Lil Uzi Vert conjures on every track that makes up his long awaited new album Pink Tape, which you can stream now.

02. PANIA - BURNA FONE

PANIA’s ‘BURNA FONE’ is where the UK and West Melbourne collide, employing legendary producer Toddla T to deliver an electric, jittery UKG banger that shows PANIA is a jack of all trades. As much as we’ve heard iterations of UKG pop up more and more in music, this track feels a lot more personal to PANIA. Whether it be the nod to her heritage in the lyrics, the use of polynesian drum patterns, or PANIA’s seamless ability to make a song so authentically homely – it ticks the boxes in all the right ways.

03. Picked Last - No Clue ft. Agung Mango, Boy Ace, A81yann, Manny Müla, Porter Rico, Eissa

Pickled Last display the first-class talent that makes up the collective on ‘NO CLUE’. The contributor list is stacked with a roster of some of Melbourne’s most promising new rappers joining forces but also standing out in their individual frenzies. The result is a glossy, club-destined bop rich with ear-catching melodies, bellowing bass, and a plethora of bars.

04. Danté Knows - Fable

Sydney-via-NY artist Dante Knows has hit us with a track that is pure, raw escapism. Known for wanting to push the boundaries of his musicality, Dante Knows has done exactly that with this one. His droning, hypnotic vocals that bridge together the verses feel warm before you’re pulled into a tight embrace, engulfed in the arms of the electronic-soul production. It’s a stunning and striking addition to Dante’s roster, as he continues to pursue his singular sonic journey.

05. Jaal - AINT NO WAY

A jazzy bassline harbingers the smooth flows of Jaal on ‘AIN’T NO WAY’. He delivers in triplets, documenting his mind state and aiming towards the successful future he’s been striving for. Joining him on the journey is some thumping kicks and dissonant piano keys, making this track a mellow flurry of manifestations.

06. Cherry Chola - mini chor ft. Jalmar

If you’re looking for the right kind of heat to keep you warm this winter, look no further than this absolute gem from Cherry Chola and Jalmar. Packed into just over two minutes is a sweat-inducing beat that honours Jalmar’s catchy vocal delivery and Cherry Chola’s candy-coated verses. No one is safe with this track, even making the stiffest of bodies sway their hips.

07. Jada Weazel - Skin

Jada Weazel is bound to leap into your playlists with the lush ‘Skin’. Rattling hi-hats and snapping snares lead head-bop inducing drum patterns, the business of which is contrasted by airy synth layers. The Woorabinda artist occupies this atmosphere with impassioned warbles, showcasing a euphoria-inducing vocal range. She snapped on this one, but in a soothing way.

08. BOY $COUT GATSBY & Babyface Mal - BoywiZard

‘BoywiZard’ occupies a triumphant atmosphere. Every piano chord feels like a step further to victory as BOY $COUT GATSBY delves into his growing success and reminisces on the trials & tribulations he had to maneuver to reach this position. Babyface Mal drops in for the second verse to share his perspective, resulting in a victory lap for two of the country’s most exciting up-and-comers.

09. GLAD - F.T.W

GLAD introduces himself in an effortless manner with ‘F.T.W’. The Melbourne prospect propels through flows as if he were a seasoned veteran, bouncing off every 808s thump and floating atop synth bleep flourishes. This is a banger that is bound to blast him through the gates of the scene.

010. P Money - Them Guys ft. AJ Tracey
